    Sunday Sound-off: Lakefront parking meters
Parking meters could make their way to the Lakefron soon.

With a growing budget gap, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker is considering a plan to put parking meters at popular Lakefront attractions like McKinley Marina, Veterans Park and Bradford Beach in an effort to increase revenue.

What do you think of this idea? Does it make sense, considering the economic realities facing the county, or is it another shot against taxpayers who are being asked to once again foot the bill for basic qualities of life?

    Sound off, Milwaukee!

Yes, parking meters on the Lakefront are a smart idea: The parks budget has taken a beating over the years and this is a reasonable way to tap into a logical stream of revenue. An extra buck or two to park my car isn't that big of deal.

No way! Leave the Lakefront alone: We pay for the parks through our taxes, and those are high enough as it is. We shouldn't have to pay additionally to use the public parks.

as appealing as the thought of walking over to the meter every few hours to feed it change is, i think it would be far easier to find a smart fiscal method to recoup the money they're looking for. the city is relentless enough both on parking availability and ticketing and ticketing the lake would only serve to irritate people looking for respite and the students of uw-milwaukee who hike all the way to school to save on parking costs.

Hmongkey, it's agreed Bradford got a nice facelift but the county had very little to do with it. The beach house area was done up through outside businesses like G1 and the Hi Hat/Comet Cafe folks. Bartolotta's took charge of the custard stand.

They should tax the hell out of the guys who walk their pitbulls, rots, and german shepherds down there. Also, if you don't have a reciept for something from Northpoint you should have to pay 5 dollars for parking when you leave. Hire someone to kick out those old people that sit at their table for like 5 hours after they are done eating their custard. Feed the gulls alkaseltzer. That should do it. Is it just me or do reserved parking spots magically become revealed when you look like the custard type? It's probably just me... but they did something to clean up Bradford.

Great idea! Why don't we cut the budgets of the parks and then increase the cost to use them by putting meters around them? What an idiot.

Why don't people in government study and work hard to solve problems? In my opinion, increasing taxes is just being lazy.
