What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published April 8, 2007 at 10:08 p.m.

Maybe I stole a few too many jelly beans from the little one's Easter basket. Maybe I had too much ham this afternoon or am still smarting because Tiger Woods lost the Masters (and cost me a steak dinner in the process because of an ill-advised wager in which I took Tiger and Phil Mickelson against the field).

Maybe I'll come around after a few weeks.

Maybe.

Right now, though, mark me down as disappointed in the long-awaited return episode of "The Sopranos."

I understand the way creator David Chase and friends like to set the tone for a season. They did that with a gun charge and some hefty foreshadowing. I enjoyed the beauty of the lake house. Seeing these complex characters laid bare again was interesting. There was some tension (and terrific acting) in the Monopoly scene that went too long. And my stomach did flip-flops thinking that a child was going to suffer harm in water.

On balance, though, I was disappointed in the debut episode of the final season. "Entourage" has officially surpassed "The Sopranos" as my favorite HBO series. That show simply isn't long enough. Tonight's return of "The Sopranos" seemed like it lasted two hours instead of just one. There is genius in that, I guess, but I wasn't in the mood.

I'll be there next week, though. And, I have high hopes for a smashing final season. But, I won't be watching the season debut again.
