Rev. Al Sharpton told a local alderman that he will visit Milwaukee to urge federal charges and an independent investigation in the Frank Jude, Jr. case, according to a Common Council news release issued Tuesday.
Sharpton made the promise to Michael McGee, Jr. during an interview with McGee on Sharpton's syndicated radio show. No specific date was set for the visit.
McGee also announced in a written statement that he approached the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice about the situation in Milwaukee and he "warned them that the city 'is a powder keg and is going to explode' and the Justice Department 'is going to be culpable for any type of civil unrest.'"
