On Saturday, March 25 Luke Lavin packed up the last of his record collection and shut the doors to Farwell Music at 2218 N. Farwell Ave. On June 1, Shannon Ross has plans to re-open those doors as she introduces Milwaukee to the world of Shag.
A retail store selling men's, women's and children's clothing, Shag will feature lines of American Apparel attire in one section, with oodles of decal and iron-on lettering options in the other section. The idea, says Ross, is that you design your own garments.
Although Shag is a Milwaukee original, stores of this variety have been popular in places like Chicago and San Francisco for years.
As for the future of Lavin and his record store, he told OnMilwaukee.com that he plans to open his new shop, Bulls Eye, in the former Constant Reader space behind Comet Café on June 1.
Stay tuned to OMC for more information as it becomes available.
