Former Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra communications/public relations manager Rebekah Schaefer has joined the Milwaukee Public Market as marketing director, it was announced today.

Schaefer, a UWM graduate, will create, implement and manage the marketing and public relations programs, cooking classes, special events and education programming at the market, which is due to open in July.

"We are really thrilled with what Rebekah brings to the table," said Wendy Baumann, Milwaukee Public Market project leader, "thoughtful public relations and marketing experience AND she is a great cook. Rebekah will coordinate not only our marketing and public relations but will lead the programming for the Market, from busloads of fourth-graders learning how to make homemade apple sauce to local chef demonstrations, cow milking contests and more. People will find the Milwaukee Public Market a unique experience!"
