Did TV peak with "Seinfeld?"
There will never be another "Seinfeld," just like there will never be another Zeppelin.

What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published June 15, 2008 at 10:16 a.m.

Each week, local "women about town" Anjl Rodee and Marilynn Mee answer OnMilwaukee.com readers' questions about relationships, romance and whatever else is on your mind. They point out that this column is "for entertainment purposes only," but they mostly say that so they don't get sued. Send your questions to Anjl and Marilynn at anjlandmarilynn@staff.onmilwaukee.com.

Dear Anjl & Marilynn,

Why are "Seinfeld" reruns still the best sitcom on TV?

Dear Kozmo,

Marilynn Mee: That's like somebody asking a music fan why there have been no good bands since Led Zeppelin.

Anjl Rodee: Why haven't there been any good bands since Led Zeppelin?

MM: Shut up, I knew you were going to say that.

I'd agree that after they created "Seinfeld," they broke the mold. There will never be another "Seinfeld," just like there will never be another Zeppelin.

AR: Didn't they say the same thing when "M*A*S*H" went off the air? And "Friends?" And Wapner?

MM: Great point.

I was very late to jump on the "Seinfeld" bandwagon. I think the event that pushed me over the edge was when my mom leaned over during a funeral and whispered, "It's just like on that one 'Seinfeld' ..."

AR: Not being a TV aficionado, I have to admit that I sometimes will fake that I'm getting the "Seinfeld" references thrown out in conversation, so as not to look like a total pop culture retard.

Let's ask our resident "Seinfeld" expert (yes, we have one), Sara, for her thoughts on the subject.

Sara: Ahhhh, Newman! What makes Seinfeld popular is that like a "close talker" it invades your space and "yada yada yada" it's suddenly part of your vocabulary. A true "Seinfeld" female junkie judges her boyfriends by whether they are "sponge worthy" and knows what it's like to be "master of her domain." Though I never signed on to "festivus," I do appreciate "regifting" and "double dipping." You see, it's become part of our life. "Giddy up!"

For the final "Seinfeld," my friends and I had a huge party. Theme was all around their catch phrases. How many shows can define pop culture like they did? Serenity NOW!

AR: Wow, I had no idea ... I take back the "Friends" and Wapner analogies!

MM: You know, Kozmo, maybe it's time to open yourself up to the possibility that there is life after "Seinfeld." Perhaps I can make a few recommendations for you. I won't go so far as to say these shows are as good as "Seinfeld," but they're right up there. First of all, anyone that loves "Seinfeld" has to love "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Granted it's on HBO, but you can rent past seasons. Next, if you're into the whole "show about nothing" thing, you really ought to try "The Office." And while you're at the video store, get the first season of "Flight of the Conchords." It's business time!
