Rehearsal started last night for a rare event in Milwaukee: a Chekhov production. The multi-talented Jason Economus directs some of this city's best actors in an actor-driven production of "The Seagull."
Leading the way are such big names as Molly Rhode, Laurie Birmingham, Marcus Truchinski and Jonathan Wainwright. The play, which is free with donations accepted, is staged at Calvary Church on 10th and Wisconsin Nov. 9-11. All performances start at 7 pm.
Chekhov described the play as a comedy, but how funny can it be when it ends with a suicide? This is a chance to see some of the best this city has to offer working together. Quasi Productions is helping mount the show.
