Sabor, Milwaukee's first Brazilian steak house, has opened at 777 N. Water St., former home of Stout Bros. The new eatery has long been talked about but began serving just last week.
Based on the centuries-old pampas steak house tradition, meat at Sabor -- named after the Portuguese word for flavor -- is prepared "churrasco" style, roasted on spits and carved table-side.
The Stout Bros. brew pub space has been renovated by Kahler Slater and the restaurant boasts an extensive wine list.
The Sabor Web site is saborbrazil.net. Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee.com for a full review of the new restaurant.

Melissa said: We ate dinner at Sabor last night and had a great time. Service was excellent as was the food. Even as someone who doesn't eat red meat, I found I had more than enough to eat. Salad bar is not a traditional salad more...many unique and tasty items. Chicken wrapped in bacon and chicken legs were great. Everyone was very friendly. I will definately go back.

Christina Green said: An excellent restaurant. A true Churrasquería, with real Gauchos serving your food. I am amazed they opened such a place in Milwaukee, and I have enjoyed every meal I have had there. The decor is great and the meat is by far the best in the city. Cheers!

Ashley said: Let me start by stating that i do not work for Sabor. I am an unbiased critic. I was at Sabor with a group of 5 girls. I have to admit the service from our very nice and friendly waitress was not very great, but the service from the guys who replenished our water and side dishes and switched out our plates and silverware was great. The first course was great, and had plenty of choices although at times it was difficult to say what you were eating, and there was no one to help identify them. The meats were very well seasoned, sometimes too seasoned as they were very, very salty. I particularly enjoyed the Garlic Herbed Steak, the Leg of Lamb and the Lamb Chop (which was very fatty but very well seasoned) Also, you have to be patient and wait for the guy with the meat you want to get to your table, as he has to go around the room... sometimes asking them to send the guy over to your table is your best bet at getting it. Overall it was a great experience. It is a change in the Milwaukee dining scene and they obviously have a lot more improvements to make.

Re:Betty said: The Service is not the stand out of that place and yet you said service first. Obviously you are a little bias towards the servers there. No worries about that though, you should be proud of yourself or someone you know working there. Just don't cover that up by prefacing your comment that you don't work there. Service there is not up to par with the BIG restaurants in town, especially with their wine. Our server was just trying to upsell us all the time without truly knowing anything about wine. Jack
