Following its recent re-launch in the United Kingdom, SABMiller and its distributors have introduced its international premium lager, Peroni Nastro Azzurro, to the Milwaukee market. The Calderone Club, 842 N. Old World 3rd St., is the first to have the beer and is serving it with special glasses from the distributor.
Peroni Nastro Azzurro, according to bartenders at Calderone Club, will replace the basic Peroni in the United States.
According to the SABMiller Web site, Peroni Nastro Azzurro is an "intensely crisp and refreshing lager, with an unmistakable touch of Italian style, brewed in Italy to the original recipe, since 1963."
It has 5.1 percent alcohol by volume, and it's lighter than the original Peroni.
Peroni Nastro Azzurro is the "brand of the month" on the SABMiller Web site, so expect Milwaukee to see increased marketing and advertising of the brand this summer.
