The new commissioner of the National Football League has a link to Milwaukee TV.
It's hardly a strong link, but we won't that stop us.
Roger Goodell, the former Jets PR intern-turned-league executive who was chosen as Paul Tagliabue's successor today in Chicago, is married to Jane Skinner (above), who spent time as a reporter/anchor for Fox 6 in Milwaukee.
Skinner, who currently reads news updates for Fox News, left Milwaukee for WNBC-TV in New York City. She also has worked a general assignment reporter for KMOV in St. Louis and WCSH in Portland, Maine. Skinner began her career as a political correspondent for KBJR in Duluth, Minn.
As the NFL's executive vice president and chief operating officer since 2001, Goodell's responsibilities included supervising the league's business operations, football operations and officiating. In addition to helping clubs with several new stadium projects, Goodell played a key role in the launch of the NFL Network, negotiating TV contracts and working on the collective-bargaining agreement with the NFL Players Association.
Goodell, 47, and Skinner have twin daughters and families with political backgrounds. He is the son of Charles Goodell, the former U.S. senator from New York appointed by former Gov. Nelson Rockefeller in 1968 after the assassination of Robert Kennedy. She is the daughter of former U.S. Transportation Secretary Sam Skinner.
