What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published Dec. 28, 2006 at 12:46 p.m.

Many local media have covered Art Suarez's grass roots effort to "save" Midwest Airlines. So after he called again today, I figured I'd give the guy some love.

Suarez, who claims he's just huge fan of the airline, has been nothing but persistent with e-mail, phone calls, rallies, signs and other communication. He predics that Midwest will be sold by year's end if we don't rise up. He's buying individual shares of the airline and working hard to promote WILovesMidwestAirlines.com. I also get the sense that the guy likes seeing his name in print and knows a bit more about media relations than he lets on.

Gotta give the guy the credit, though. It's easy to be cynical about such grass roots efforts and people usually (sadly) have motives that transcend the cause. But, as my wife reminded me this morning, too many people today are against things. Here's a guy that's for something.

He's even generated what might be the first "rap song" (I use that term very loosely) featuring our hometown airline. A link to the YouTube version is at the end. Warning, it's not exactly Grammy-award winning material.

Want to join Suarez's effort? Check out his site below.
