Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett helps launch the construction of 20 new homes in Bronzeville with a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 11 a.m. at 2217 N. 6th St.
Joining Barrett is Manpower employee Tara Ali, who along with her family will live in one of the future Bronzeville homes.
The Bronzeville redevelopment is a City of Milwaukee initiative that creates an African-American Cultural & Entertainment District on North Avenue from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to I-43. Bronzeville.
As part of the project, the City of Milwaukee is offering 13 vacant lots for $1 each so that buyers can build and live in a new single-family home. Special mortgage loans and homeowner grants are also available.
