What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published Feb. 2, 2008 at 10:33 a.m.

Each week, local "women about town" Anjl Rodee and Marilynn Mee answer OnMilwaukee.com readers' questions about relationships, romance and whatever else is on your mind. They point out that this column is "for entertainment purposes only," but they mostly say that so they don't get sued. Dear Anjl & Marilynn,

I have a question regarding men's hairstyles. I am balding and decided four years ago to shave my head completely bald for a cleaner look. I received a lot of positive attention from women at the time. However, over the last year or so I have noticed more men with longer hair and women paying less attention to bald-headed men. Is bald out and long hair in?

Dear Kojak,

Marilynn: The simple answer is, bald is never out.

Anjl: Well, on some heads, bald should never be in. Same can be said for long hair, for that matter.

MM: Good point: if you've got a square or lumpy head or an unusually large forehead, you might want consider hat instead of hairless.

AR: Seeing as we both have lots of hair, we'll defer to an expert to see if this observation is all in your bald head.

MM: As a matter of fact, there is a handsome bald man not 10 feet away from us, hogging the premium fireplace spot at Starbucks. We'll call him "Keith."

Keith: No, bald is definitely not out. I've been shaving my head for about 10 years, and I've noticed a definite increase in attention from the ladies since doing so. It's become a part of who I am.

AR: This brings up a possible issue with Kojak; perhaps he's not emotionally committed to his baldness.

MM: It sounds to me, Kojak, like you're lacking some confidence with the women. When your mojo level is low, you send out a low self esteem vibe, whether caused by your hairstyle, sixth toe or crappy job. And lack of confidence is always out of style.

AR: Women are going to be attracted to what they're attracted to -- some like the bald look, some like men with a lot of hair, and that fact isn't going to change with style trends.

MM: I just took an informal survey of a dozen or so women and one really cute gay guy, and the consensus is that personality and facial appearance is what they look for first. Hair or lack thereof isn't nearly as important. Here's an important question for you: are you still wearing the same clothes you were wearing when you shaved your head? Same shoes? The shirt might have already been four years old when you shaved. If your head says 2008 but your clothes scream 1998, this might be your problem.

AR: I think we're on to something ... ask a female friend whose style you admire to take you shopping.

MM: What's your weight now, are you keeping yourself in decent shape?

AR: Umm, he never said he was in good shape to begin with ...

MM: Maybe change up the facial hair, maybe add a soul patch or burns. Our new bald friend Keith has a subtle fu manchu. It's hot.

AR: Lean into your bald self, my friend. Confidence is the best attraction tool a man can have.

MM: And if you're getting your bald head around in an Audi A4, it wouldn't hurt.
