Local TV news continues to discover Downtown as Fox 6 today announced a series of local summer concerts at Pere Marquette Park, which is also the site of the River Rhythms summer music series. "FOX 6 Summer ROX" concerts take place every Friday from 7:30 to 9 a.m., during the "Wake Up News," from June 23 through July.
Band performances and portions of the news will be broadcast live from the park by anchor Nicole Koglin. The Love Monkeys and Remember the Day perform at the debut event. Other bands scheduled include Eddie Butts, Willy Porter, Carbon Leaf and King Solomon. A complete schedule can be found on the station's Web site.
Chuck Steinmetz, station general manager, says that this is the first time the station has created its own concert series.
Other local stations have created similar downtown coverage recently with WISN's regular '12 News On Assignment' series and WDJT's "Milwaukee Downtown Amazing Race."

what is said: your problem, eaglescout?? do you have something against the love monkeys? you must be in a sucky band that lost to them in a local competition.

Steve said: Entertainment in the park sounds like a great idea, but I think having Nicole host it will ruin the thing. Can't they put someone else who isn't loud and annoying? I guess I'll have to mute her when the bands aren't playing.

eaglescout said: i agree. it is about time some brave station helps a pathetic, struggling, local, cover band like the Love Monkeys by having them perform outdoors. very, very cutting edge!!!

it is said: about time... new york one has been setting the trend for this sort of entertaining local coverage in the mornings. remote live concert segments are a great idea for morning shows. studios are boring.
