"Fortune" magazine published its list of 100 best companies to work for in 2008 and three Wisconsin business, one in Milwaukee and two in Racine, made the top 50.
Racine's S.C. Johnson & Son ranked No. 27, Johnson Financial Group, also based in Racine, ranked No. 37 and Milwaukee's Robert W. Baird came in at No. 39.
"Fortune" surveyed nearly 100,000 employees from over 400 different companies and the results were complied based on factors such as best benefits, job growth, turnover, pay and size.
Here's what they had to say about the Wisconsin-based employers.
S.C. Johnson & Son -- What makes it so great? Talk about employee retention: More than half of employees are over age 45, 28 percent have worked here more than 20 years, and 78% more than six years.
Johnson Financial Group -- What makes it so great? Unusual perks here: paid paternity leave (six weeks), graduate tuition reimbursement (up to $10,000 a year), and child-care reimbursement when you travel.
Robert W. Baird -- What makes it so great? They tout the "no-a**hole rule" at this financial services firm; candidates are interviewed extensively, even by assistants who will be working with them.
Google, of course, was voted best. See the rest of the list here.
