"There's nothing else like it." You've heard that one before. But in the case of Eve, 718 N. Milwaukee St., there's no other way to describe it. Now you can see for yourself.

Eve opened its doors on New Year's Eve for a party, with a regular grand opening date of Wed., Jan. 2. After that, regular operating hours begin.

Owned by Spiro Asimakopoulos and Tom Wackman, the hard-to-describe club/restaurant is located directly next to Three.

As you walk through the front door, you notice the high ceilings and beautiful architecture. The building itself is over 100 years old. A classic feel is maintained even while the interior has been thoroughly renovated.

According to Asimakopoulos, there is 8,000 sq. ft. spread out between the two levels of Eve. As you wander around both floors, it isn't difficult to believe him.

Eve's gorgeous interior is like a metal Garden of Eden. A red, snake-like metal structure twists and turns its way like a rollercoaster through both floors. All of the furniture is white and the floors are dark hardwood. Everything has been custom built.

The first floor houses the restaurant and is referred to as "taste." It will be open seven days a week and serve from 4 p.m.-midnight. The menu will be "American with a twist," said Asimakopoulos. Selections include steak and burgers and items will be priced from $7-$14.

The second level, "tempt," is broken up into three rooms. One is a small lounge area with places to sit, relax and converse. Another room of near the same size is the "red room." It's completely red and includes a small bar and some tables.

The third and final room is a large ballroom that takes up about half of the second floor. There's another bar here and plenty of open space for dancing. A DJ will spin records here, which will be a mix of modern music. There won't be any techno.

The upstairs will be open to the public on Thursday and Saturday night until bar time. Friday nights will mainly be reserved for private parties. They are also planning on having theme parties twice a month.

Casual elegance is the best way to describe the type of atmosphere Eve is aiming for. There will be a cover charge and the door policy will be selective.

An elevator can take you between floors if you don't feel like taking the stairs. Valet parking will also be available. Plans for the future include a brunch, a Friday fish fry and lunch in the summer.
