A new martini and cocktail lounge called Viridarium, 131 N. Jackson St., joins the Third Ward neighborhood in mid-March. This is owner Michael Owens' first business venture.
"I go out a lot, and decided I would make my own place rather than pay other people to drink," says Owens, who lives in Germantown and previously worked as a Honda salesman.
Viridarium will feature an extensive list of beer, wine, cocktails and martinis. They will also serve light hor'deurves. Owens says it will appeal to young professionals, among others. Scott Genke of sgworks is creating the design.
"It's going to be a social, friendly place where people can come to enjoy themselves and make contacts," says Owens.
