Drinking on Sunday nights is like drinking alone: it can be sad or it can be perfectly fine. |

I go back and forth about drinking alcohol on Sunday nights. It seems like the ideal time to enjoy a glass of wine or a beer because it symbolizes one last hurrah and gives closure to the weekend whether it was fabulous or a complete flop.
On the other hand, if I've already consumed beverages on Friday and / or Saturday night, drinking on Sunday evening seems excessive. Even though, chances are, I won't drink much – or anything at all – during the week.
Obviously, I'm one of those people who keeps score when it comes to imbibing. Maybe we all are? Personally, I like to drink alcohol and therefore recognize the need to keep myself in check.
Maybe this is what I'm really writing about: not whether drinking on a Sunday night is right or wrong, but the fact that fans of the strong drink need to occasionally question our indulging and make rules to keep ourselves in line. Like, I rarely do it two nights in a row, I don't mix beverages and I drink a lot of water if I am having a big night out.
But I haven't made a hard-and-fast call on Sunday nights.
Hence, even though there's a Guinness in the fridge literally calling my name -- in Gaelic, none the less -- I'm not sure if I should indulge. After all, I did knock back a couple of love potions last night.

I never saw the point of drinking on Sunday when you have an early Monday morning when you have to haul it into work, if you are a 1st shifter. However if you work 2nd shift, Sunday can be considered a bonus night, and I have heard the term "Sunday Funday" among this group that likes to go out on this day.
