The Bomb Shelter is a beer-centric bar that pays tribute to the classic corner varieties that flourished during a time when locally-brewed beer seeped from the city's pores.

You'll find Pabst, Schlitz, Blatz and High Life on tap, and a rotating beer menu of over 300 different beers. The decor is largely vintage beer and brewing memorabilia from the companies that made Milwaukee America's Brew City.

Menu: The impressive beer list here is always evolving, but at last update it stood at more than 300 beers -- from Abita Purple Haze Raspberry Wheat to Young's Double Chocolate Stout and everything between. You want to follow your Samuel Adams with a Sapporo? This is the place. You want to go from Red Stripe to Rhinelander? You can do it. How about a Fat Squirrel Nut Brown Ale, followed by a Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier? If it comes in a boot, beer stein, glass or goblet, Bomb Shelter has got you covered.

Price: Inexpensive to moderate.

When to go: Wednesday nights the bar hosts its Suds Club, Milwaukee's only weekly beer-tasting club. The evening begins at 7 p.m. and is based around a new theme each week. $10 per person.

Dress: Quite casual.

Don't miss: This place is always full of new brew surprises. The latest was the re-emergence of the original Schlitz Tall Boy can.

Parking: Street parking only.
