Dig through that suitcase in the closet because during the Euro 2008 tournament, The Nomad World Pub, 1401 E. Brady St., lets American soccer fans buy drinks with their leftover Euros.
But, please, paper money only. No coinage will be accepted. Owner Mike Eitel expects the tournament, which runs from June 7 through June 29, to be popular with customers.
"We end up shaking our heads and wondering where all the Europeans have been hiding," he says. "We've talked about this idea before and finally decided to give business travelers and European ex-pats a way to get rid of their small bills."
Because The Nomad will pool the Euros together and trade them in at M&I Bank, Eitel says only minimal bank fees will be passed along to customers.
"We should be able to accept Euros from guests without them losing their shirts on normally cost-prohibitive transaction fees for small bills," he says.
