The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Eat & Drink, 2007. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all month long in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.
Walker's Point is a small neighborhood but it's certainly seeing more than its fair share of development attention lately.
With all the new condos also come new restaurants and new bars like MOCT, V Bar and The Room, which is connected to Boom, 625 S. 2nd St. Some people have even given the area a new name -- The Fifth Ward -- which alludes to its ultra trendy neighborhood to the north, The Third Ward.
But before south of Downtown was the new place to be, The Social made its home there. A Walker's Point veteran, The Social first opened at 434 N. 2nd St. in 2000. In 2004 owner Kevin Sloane relocated it to the hot little intersection of 1st Street and Pittsburgh Avenue, next door to Alterra Coffee Roasters.
The current location is almost 3,000 sq. ft. -- twice the size of the old location -- and has tons of seating, a larger bar area and a private room for parties or large groups. With a warm, lively atmosphere, it remains a great place to get dinner and drinks before heading out for the night.

VBAR IS OPEN, I was their on Friday and had a GREAT time. VBAR is actually more like Tequila Bar, now from what I notice. They were playing latin Music, or at least on Fridays. The Bar its self was put together very nice for a small space. Being a Latin scene now, it will probably be out of OnMilwaukee's List? Why doesnt OnMilwaukee have a Top 10 Best for Latin Night Theme. Hot Water? Tequila Bar? V Bar? Rain? Few good bars out their with a latin Theme catering to a diverse Latino professional crowd.

It is called the Fifth Ward because that is the name of the area back when wards were how areas were named. Not because it is trendy.

It's so funny to see that the "best bar" in Walker's Point really isn't a bar. Look at all the bars in the area, and find one that really is. The Bottle. Monkey Bar. Fat Daddy's.
