Leff's Lucky Town was a runaway winner among suburban bars. |

"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun bars and club articles -- including guides, unique features, drink recipes and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!
The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Bars & Clubs, 2009. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all month long in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.
The food is good. The beer is cold. But, Leff's Lucky Town isn't flashy, fancy or very remarkable.
And, the customers in Wauwatosa like it that way.
Located in a historic building that once housed a silent movie theater and a shoe store that fronted a Prohibition speakeasy, Leff's, 7208 W. State St., was a runaway winner for best suburban bar in the OnMilwaukee.com readers' poll. It also won the editors' choice.
The simple saloon -- home to dozens of softball, kickball, volleyball and touch football teams as well as plasma TVs, decent bar food and the biggest urinal in the tri-county area -- draws steady business on just about every night of the week and gets jam-packed for special events like Opening Day, Tosa Fest and Hartfest.
Small wonder, then, that owner Chris Leffler is considering expanding.
Leffler purchased the gas station located immediately south of his bar and is seeking approval from city officials for a small outdoor patio with seating for 50, a rain garden and some green space.
One in four voters with a preference chose Leff's in the survey, making it a clear winner over solid contenders like Shorewood's Village Pub, Club Paragon and Colonel Hart's, Paulie's and the Trysting Place Pub.
Editors' choice: Leff's Lucky Town

Leffs has much better food than the other State Street bars in Tosa. Also there are a few "regular" girls that hang out there that are smoking hot. A few cougars as well
