"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun bars and club articles -- including guides, unique features, drink recipes and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!
The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Bars & Clubs, 2009. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all month long in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.
Martinis are a loaded drink. Perhaps no other alcoholic beverage has generated such a precise and passionate following as the one that supplemented the iconic careers of James Bond and the entire Rat Pack.
Tradition says a classic martini is a cocktail made with gin and dry vermouth. Inviting vodka to the party has, more recently, opened the floodgates and significantly blurred the lines of martini qualifications. Most of what you see today is just a froo-frou drink in a martini glass.
But, regardless of your flavor preference, a good drink is a good drink, and the readers of OnMilwaukee.com know one when they have one. That's why it's no surprise they chose the Hi-Hat Lounge as purveyor of the city's best martinis.
The bar's drink list is extensive and diverse -- a pleasing selection for the traditional drinker and the experimental sipper alike.
So whether you like it dry, sweet, extra dirty or dripping with chocolate, chances are you'll be satisfied with a Hi-Hat martini.
Only one question remains: shaken or stirred?

Jo Jo's ? Come on. 600+ so called "martinis" all made with this approximate recipe 1 oz cheap flavored vodka ( whatever the new "hot" flavor is) 3 oz sweet & sour mix (basically HFCS + food cocloring) cranberry juice, sprite, triple sec, grenadine....

Totally agree on Angelo's! Before you're even through the door your order has been taken, being made, and at your table by the time your coat is off. Well, that is if you're lucky enough to get a table.
