Whether it's an upscale pub with an on-premise brewmaster or a corner bar with a vintage Pabst sign outside, Milwaukee bars try to cultivate impressive beer lists. In the opinion of OnMilwaukee.com readers, the best list in town once again belongs to Sugar Maple, 441 E. Lincoln Ave.
Co-owner Bruno Johnson's second bar (he also operates The Palm Tavern with his wife, Adrienne Pierluissi), Sugar Maple focuses on Midwest craft beers and eschews the city's megabrews, though Lakefront and Sprecher are represented among the more than 60 beers on the draft list.
In addition to regular specials and occasional live bands, the Sugar Maple offers an unofficial beer education. If you have questions about a beer, they'll be glad to help you find a selection you like.

I agree with dexxter. Bomb Shelter has the quantity (340+ different beers) and the quality as well.

I'm really curious what the voting numbers show on this one, and how it was controlled. This smells of a popularity contest. They are certainly not the best selection of beer in Milwaukee. Don't get me wrong, the selection is good -- But there's better. I'm guessing this is actually a win for "coolest beer bar at the hot intersection in Bay View filled with hipsters." Or maybe I'll give them credit for "Milwaukee's best draft beer list." Bomb Shelter has more than four times the beer selection, but it's off the beaten path on 2nd street, between Walker's Point and Bay View. I'm pretty sure the Palm has more than Sugar Maple too, even though that's still in Bay View, it's not in the hot zone. OnMilwaukee.com - Next year, why don't you split this category into best draft list and best bottle list?

Love the Sugar Maple. If only they would follow Roman's lead and update their website regularly with a date stamp.
