It's not surprising that 'Mino is a repeat winner in this poll. |

"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun bars and club articles -- including guides, unique features, drink recipes and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!
The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Bars & Clubs, 2009. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all month long in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.
Earlier this month, we announced the winner of our readers' pick for best bar district, and Bay View won handily. So when the field of choices for best bar in Bay View includes a whopping 18 selections, the big winner must be good.
Good is an understatement for 2009's top vote getter: Palomino, 2491 S Superior St. It's not the oldest bar in the neighborhood, but it's one of the first to pull in drinkers from all over the city. Flanked by Cactus Club and Club Garibaldi, it's on the hypotenuse of the neighborhood's little triangle of cool.
Palomino's drink slingers also won top prize in the best bartender contest in this year's reader poll, so you know you'll get good service. Add in a killer jukebox, tasty brunch, free bingo on Mondays and greasy, delicious trucker food like fried pickles and hush puppies (and a surprisingly large selection of vegan dishes), and you've got the recipe for one great bar. They make some mean Bloody Marys, too.
As for an endorsement, we love the bar just as much as our readers do. It's not surprising that 'Mino is a repeat winner in this poll. For our editors' pick, though, we decided to shed some light on another Bay View bar, Burnhearts.

Can't really disagree...although I did have one terrible service incident, it looks like that bartender is no longer there. Love Burnhearts as well...good staff, great beer and shuffleboard! I gotta plug Hectors as well...excellent place to stop and load up on some quick delicious tex-mex and mexican beers before heading out for the evening.

Does Shaina still work there? She's a hottie! How did Doc & College ever got out of there alive when they worked together? It's no surprise, really, that the place rocks - they got Rouloux.
