"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun bars and club articles -- including guides, unique features, drink recipes and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!
As OnMilwaukee.com gets ready to host the first Bartender Olympics, you can get ready to cheer on the competition by familiarizing yourself with future Milwaukee Bar Olympians.
Watch for profiles of all 10 bartenders over the next week and then catch the action at the Milwaukee Ale House on Thursday, Feb. 26. All in honor of friendly competition, cheer on your favorite Olympian while you enjoy deals on Ale House food and Maker's Mark, Jameson, Absolut Mango or Dr. Lemon drinks.
Heather Griebl, a bartender at Rosie's, will compete on Thursday night. Here's more info about this popular barkeep.
OnMilwaukee.com: What's your favorite thing about being a bartender?
Heather Griebl: My favorite thing about being a bartender in Milwaukee are the relationships I have built with my customers. I see familiar faces everywhere I go and it's comforting to have the network of friends and regular clients that I do.
OMC: If you could bartend anywhere other than Rosie's where would you choose?
HG: It would be somewhere along a coastline on a beach so I wouldn't have to deal with the freezing cold and bad weather that comes with Milwaukee.
OMC: If you could serve a drink to anyone, who would it be and what would you serve them?
HG: It would be Chelsea Handler, the host of "Chelsea Lately" on E Network. I would serve her Grey Goose straight up, her favorite choice of liquor, and then make her take my favorite shot, Jameson, with me.
OMC: What five artists would you put on a jukebox?
HG: Rihanna, Coldplay, Journey, Garth Brooks and Kanye West.
OMC: In the competition you're going to be making a cocktail with one of the four sponsor brands. Which one did you pick and how do you typically serve it?
HG: I like to serve Lemon Drop McGillicuddy's as a chilled shot, with a sugar covered lemon garnish to be taken after.
