Bar Louie celebrated the company's 20th location of the popular Chicago-based chain restaurant and bar, when Bar Louie Milwaukee at 1114 N. Water St. opened this week.

Now, plans for a second Milwaukee-area location have surfaced. Amy Weisenburger, director of marketing and public relations for Restaurant-America (the parent company) says, "Yes, Bar Louie is looking at the Bayshore Town Center in Glendale and we are hoping to open in November of this year."

Other Bar Louie franchises have opened this summer in Cleveland, St. Louis and Grand Rapids, Mich. Currently, most (12) of the Bar Louie franchises are in the Chicago area. Roger Greenfield and Ted Kasemir -- who own Restaurants-America, Inc. -- opened the first Bar Louie in Chicago's River North neighborhood in 1991.

The company has also announced that it will open one of its Red Star Taverns in the first floor of the eight-story River Renaissance condominium development in the Third Ward.

Of late there have been rumors that this project was not moving forward. When asked, Weisenburger said, "As for the Red Star deal, we are moving forward and plan to open in 2007."
