Last summer, we reported the opening of Water's End, 1247 N. Water St., in the space formerly occupied by The Corner.
In the eight months since, there have been quite a few changes.
"Ultimately, they built Water's End in possibly the worst economic conditions. They decided they had had enough at the end of November, so we put The Corner back in place for one last month this past December," owner Joe Sorge explains.
After a month of giving customers a chance to relive The Corner's good times, Sorge has new plans in progress for the Water Street location.
AJ Bombers, set to open in March, combines peanuts, burgers and beer.
"We're building it with an eye on the development around us and hope to fit in nicely as part of the future of Park East development," Sorge explains.
Flux Design, who also designed Sorge's Water Buffalo and Swig, is readying the space. The plan is to open AJ Bombers as Water Street's first smoke-free bar.
Check back to OnMilwaukee.com for details later this spring.

Just had lunch there today (20th), was thinking that I'd regret it, but all in all, we had a great lunch experience. The waitstaff was friendly. Service was prompt. And the Bomber Burger w/ the addition of a fried egg, was a great sandwich. I think that'll it'll do quite well regardless of the location.

Rock on for smoke-free, but location is dumpy. Eh.

Anyone else think of a more doomed location in Milwaukee?

It'll be nice to have a smoke-free place to go before games other than Starbuck's.
