Information about OnMilwaukee.com author:
Kyle Cherek
Kyle Cherek is host of "Wisconsin Foodie," a new local food, cooking and travel show that airs on WISN-TV (Channel 12).
Each half-hour episode explores Wisconsin's culinary world by profiling local food treasures and unique travel destinations.
Kyle has been sitting up and taking nourishment since the Ford Administration. He is a born-and-bred Wisconsinite and sees our great state as an amazing place full history, craftsmanship and great artisanal resources -- a perfect backdrop for a show like "Wisconsin Foodie."
His efforts to uncover the unique, the unusual or the important is never-ending for the show. His first true foodie experience was during the summer of 2000 when a friendship with a highly lauded local chef exposed him to exceptional ingredients, the alchemy food and friends can have on life, and cooking for the sheer pleasure of it. When not appearing on "Wisconsin Foodie," he is busy relishing the city in which he resides (Milwaukee) or patiently waiting for the chance to say "Let’s look at the desert menu, shall we?"

| | Foodies stretch limits. It is part of our inner creed. Molecular gastronomy, haute cuisine, small plate -- everything. We are always leaning with one part of our palate to the new and inventive, which is why I was thrilled to meet a true maverick traditionalist. |

| | As we move forward into the filming of our second season, I have realized that whether vegan or avid carnivore, dabbler or master chef, foodies all take great delight in one thing: pairings. |

| | French cuisine a la Wisconsin Foodie |
| | If the words foie gras, pommes frites and bouillabaisse roll off the average American's tongue, it is in large part due to two chefs and personalities that have shaped the American culinary scene more than any other: Jacques Pepin and Julia Child. |

| | I have to admit -- even the most ardent of foodies can feel a bit to far to the bacchanal side of things at the end-of-year; the Wisconsin Foodie production crew not excluded. We rallied ourselves to a true New Year's resolution -- a new airtime to coincide with the new year. |
