Do you make a lot of lists?
by Molly Snyder Edler

I only started to make lists recently, but I do not know how I survived for so many years without them. Once I started making lists, I realized most of the people in my life made them, too.

One friend said she only makes them with a particular kind of pen. Another told me to get one of those notepads with a magnet on the back and stick it on the fridge so I could quickly jot down needed grocery items. Yet another amiga told me an important rule in list-making: always write "Make a list" at the top so you can cross something off right away. I don’t always do this, but it's a humorous suggestion.

I started writing this silly blog because tonight I went to Pick ‘N Save to grab a few items, and I found someone else’s shopping list in the basket of my cart. Written with a blue ballpoint pen on a piece of lined, yellow paper, the blocky printing reads:

1.    Dove Bars for Mom
2.    Tissues (The plural is interesting)
3.    Shortning (sic)
4.    Mr. Clean
5.    Apples and bananas

I found this to be such a strange combination of items. Then I read my own shopping list, and realized it was equally as odd sounding. I mean, when else would "fish food" appear after "yogurt?" Yuck.
