"Bogut and Yi are at the deli," is what I heard as I entered Metro Market tonight.
The always-buzzing Downtown grocer was not only hopping with shoppers on Thursday night, but the entire Bucks team was there manning the store.
The bakery, deli, produce section, meat counter and even at the checkout lines were fully of staffed by the likes of Charlie Bell, Jake Voskuhl, Bobby Simmons, Awvee Storey, Michael Redd, Desmond Mason, Michael Ruffin, Samaki Walker and others.
Behind the deli, Andrew Bogut and Yi Jianlian filled orders as the Chinese and Milwaukee media and hungry customers watched. Yi smiled and signed autographs during his second community visit in Milwaukee.
This "Paint The Town" event was done in cooperation with Pick 'n Save/Roundy's and is an NBA league-wide initiative. In Chicago today, the entire Bulls team appeared outside the lower level of Lord & Taylor at Northbrook Court Mall.

Yeah...and down with the Wave who play in a taxpayer-funded arena...and down with the Brewers who play in a taxpayer-funded stadium...and down with the Packers who play in a taxpayer-funded stadium...and down with UWM/MU/UW non-revenue generating sports teams who are a financial burden upon the student body. Gosh, I LOVE being filled with this kind of hate! It's very addicting! I can see why others love it so much! In addition to hating sports teams...I hate cold weather, Milwaukee, paying rent, traffic jams, paying my student loans, potholes, baby kittens, Water St, Zubaz, chain restaurants, Republicans, anyone who doesn't like John McGivern, SUVs, Summerfest, and anyone who doesn't believe in Global Warming.

You know who a great role model would be???? how about thier parents or maybe a local team who really does live in Milwaukee YEAR ROUND like the wave or the admirals????? The Bucks are a JOKE - overpriced tickets cause them to not sell out a horrible arena that is way to small to generate the revenue that an NBA team requires. If they do not have a new arena built in the next 5 years they will and should be GONE. I pray they do not build a new arena because it will be way to big of a tax burden to be beneficial. Good bye underperforming/overpaid/useless Bucks...

Great last post. Yes, they are overpaid, and yes, they were probably there because of the contracts, but you know what...they do ALOT for Milwaukee. NBA stars are still role models, and thank god the Bucks, for the most part, have some of the best role models in the NBA. I cant recall anyone on the team that plays the "thug" role like many other players do around the league. Most of the players actually enjoy what Milwaukee has to offer as a city too. I remember seeing Andrew Bogut shopping at the Best Buy on 76th street his first year here (not endorsing anything, he was just there as a regular person). I also remember seeing Dan Gadzuric eating a dinner and enjoying the night life at Cubanita's on Milwaukee Ave one night as well. Despite being overpaid athletes, they utilize the city like the rest of us, and in my opinion, make it better...even if you dont enjoy sports. As far as helping the community or charities, take a look at Charlie Villanueva. He has a rare skin disease and has had it all of his life. Like many others, as a kid he was ridiculed for it, the disease does not allow him to grow hair. He took that ridicule growing up, went to college, and ended up an NBA star. Villanueva has become a spokesman for the NAAF (National Alopecia Areata Foundation) to help others growing up with the same condition. Now that is not part of his contract... IN any event, I would much rather have kids grow up idolizing Michael Redd or Charlie Villanueva rather than Alan Iverson or any other thug from the NBA. This, in my opinion makes the Bucks a special team. We should be proud to have them here and compliment them for what they do in this community, even if it is part of their contract.

I hope they move out of Milwaukee - I hate winter traffic jams downtown because they have a meaningless game.... although last year andrew bogut almost killed me at the metro market by nearly running over me to get a loaf of bread - he is even taller in real life; I am 6'3" and I felt like a midget...

The Negativity is ridiculous, and quite ironic. We are so lucky to have an NBA team in this city and it helps everybody. More people eating at restaurants and drinking at bars, maybe even going to an occasional game? Not to mention the undeniable way that pro or college sports can help bring a community together at certain times of the year. And last time I checked, Momma, you don't pay any of the Bucks Salaries? I believe Mr. Kohl does. So unless he's asking you for donations, enjoy what he and they do bring to the City. PS- Would you go help at the Metro Market it it wasn't in your contract? And I bet that Michael Redd and Charlie Bell do more volunteering than everyone who reads this article combined. Don't hate cause you ain't got hops.
